The Purist is a UK-based producer who's had great success collaborating with Danny Brown and Tree in the past. His latest joint track with a rapper is "Touch Me," which showcases precocious Chicago native Mick Jenkins.
A romantic track with placid production, "Touch Me" has Jenkins spitting two hyper-descriptive verses and showing off his singing voice on the hook.
It's unclear if "Touch Me" will end up on any future projects, but we know it won't be on The Purist's next EP, scheduled to drop in March. The tracklist for that, which he shared on Twitter, features Roc Marciano, Tree, Your Old Droog and Freddie Gibbs.
Quotable Lyrics
His intentions are purely good, but he purely hood
He ain't ever had shit but he had that nine
Came through flickin' and he had that shine in his eyes
And he dyin' to decide, ridin' with a dime at his side
And a dollar and a dream on his mind, and his pride to the side
Grindin', hopin' one day he'll find what he lookin' past
