"Peso" is barely five years old, but given the untimely death of A$AP Mob's Yams, it seemed appropriate to throwback to "Peso," where we had one of our first glimpses at the crew Rocky rolled with, including Yams (who actually gets a shout out in the track although it's under his real name Stevie). A$AP Yams is largely credited with getting Rocky's career off the ground, including uploading the then-new artist's "Purple Swag" video on his now-defunct Tumblr when it first dropped, helping spread it to the masses. "Purple Swag" quickly catapulted Rocky to fame. "Peso" was equally dripped in lean and Houston vibes, further cementing the sound we've come to expect from Rocky.
A$AP Rocky's Live.Love.ASAP mixtape is always worth a re-listen.
Quotable Lyrics
Couple A, B, C's, bad bitch double D's
Popping E, I don't give a F, told you I'm a G
A.S.A.P., Stevie got it on his sleeve
But I got it on my chest, my nigga this is what I breathe
Inhale, exhale, cocaine, X pills
Import, export, Harlem catching wrecks still
So mami show me how that neck feel
Later show me how the rest feel, for now just chill
