On Sunday morning, the hip-hop world was rocked with news of the passing of A$AP Mob co-founder A$AP Yams (born Steven Rodriguez). Though his connections clearly ran deep and wide, Yams' death hit his closest friends and coworkers especially hard, one of them being Joey Fatts. As Fatts is with Cutthroat Records, a label Yams frequently worked with, his new tribute to his deceased friend is even more poignant. Take a listen to "Stevie World."
Sampling Deniece Williams' "Black Butterfly," the song is soulful and somber, with Fatts recounting all of the various ways Yams aided his come-up. The song is shared with the description, "rest in paradise to my big brother yamborghini.."
Quotable Lyrics
Went to havin' hoes frontin' to the nigga they fuckin'
Because of you, you say it's nothin', 'cause that's the shit that you do
You my nigga forever, never will I forget you
When I was out here in the streets, you made me get it together
