In honor of Aaliyah’s birthday which was on Friday (she would’ve been 36 btw), Frank Ocean decided to take to his Tumblr Page and pay homage with a cover of her 1994 record “At Your Best” (itself a cover of The Isley Brothers' 1976 track "At Your Best [You Are Love]").
Showing off his exceptional vocals (especially that high note), the Odd Future affiliate delivers something new for the fans to soak up until the follow up to Channel Orange arrives, which he's currently working on and rumored to be dropping later in 2015. The 5-minute cover comes just two short month after hearing his "Memrise" release.
Take a close listen and let us know how it compares to her version.
Quotable Lyrics:
When I feel what I feel
Sometimes it's hard to tell you so
You may not be in the mood to learn what you think you know
There are times when I find
You want to keep yourself from me
When I don't have the strength
I'm just a mirror of what I see
