Disappointingly, the vast majority of hip-hop "remixes" these days consist of rappers dropping bars over already-existing instrumentals. No matter how many people hopped on Bobby Shmurda's "Hot Nigga," no MCs or producers even tweaked Jahlil's beat a bit. Part of that speaks to the awesome quality of the instrumental, but mostly, it's just lazy. There's always a place for freestyles over hot tracks, but we need more remixes like Rich The Kid's new one of Drake's "All Me."
Titled "STFU," his version features a loop of Big Sean saying "hoe, shut the fuck up" and an entirely new beat. Way to be imaginative, RTK!
