Much of the mystery surrounding Your Old Droog has died down, with rumors that he is Nas being debunked, and his first video interview with Sway in the Morning. However the buzz for the underground Coney Island MC is still alive, and today he decides to premiere a new record, using a news article from NY Times' Jon Caramanica as the cover art. Dude definitely has the critics on lock.
"Get The Paper" is about Droog's morning routine, which may or may not include getting a newspaper (depending on if he's featured in it). As the rapper tells XXL, "I drink coffee and read the paper in the morning so I wrote a song about it. I only get the paper when I’m in it now though, feel me? Some of y’all might recognize the sample. RIP MCA."
Quotable Lyrics
Went straight to the Arts section, started flexin'
Like look ma I'm on stage shootin' dice with Sean Price
Henny straight never on ice but I don't even drink like that
Making a grip is my only vice
