David Banner's debut, Mississippi: The Album was full of big singles, but some of it's best moments were the more understated political records. Banner's brand new song, "Burning Thumbs" is reminiscent of those moments. Clearly a response to the recent events in the US where unarmed black men such as Eric Garner and Mike Brown were killed by police.
The Southern rapper calls for Obama to deliver on the promises of change he claims have not been fulfilled, all over a simple, guitar and vocal-led beat. Banner's upcoming project The God Box is due out soon.
Quotable Lyrics:
What if God already came
And we missed the damn boat
As Katrina, black folks don't float so well
And I guess that times gon' tell
They I'm selfish
Rap records don't sell no more
Burning Thumbs
