Awful Records' Archibald Slim has been wowing us with his deceptively simple, undeniably hard music ever since we were introduced to his tape He's Drunk! earlier this year. Today, he's just released a project with Tyler Major by the name of NWO. After posting the first taste of the tape, "Meditate," on Saturday, we're now giving you "Game," a highlight from the ten track project.
Also featuring Floyd and Awful's Pyramid Quince, the song demands head-nodding with its propulsive, piano and horn-driven beat. It was tough to pick this one over the equally-amazing "Fwm," but ultimately, the beat and chemistry between the rappers makes this one of Slim's best yet.
In 2014, it was almost impossible to keep up with Archibald Slim, who seemed to release a new project every other month. Let's hope he keeps up the good work in 2015.
Quotable Lyrics
Seem like Atlanta's full of rappers half-assin' rap
Might call the shit a classic, but it's still a practice lap
I could flip it backwards and wouldn't even have to practice that
The only thing hip-hop about you is your backwards hat
Nigga not me, niggas droppin' singles only thing be hot the beat
They drop 'em from the label, bet you mine ain't droppin' me
Please don't call me "New Atlanta," set the scene apart from me
'Cause what be hot to you prolly won't be hot to me
