Detroit native, Obie Trice, is back and he just dropped his newest single, "Detroit Vs. Everybody," an ominous slap with the theme song of The Walking Dead in the background. A few of his classics recently premiered on the Shady Records compilation album, Shady XV, and his new stuff is just as fresh as ever. As for the original "Detroit Vs. Everybody," which is also on Shady XV and features artists, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Dej Loaf, and Royce Da 5'9, Obie told Complex that it "could have been better....I believe the hook could have been stronger, also the beat."
The Walking Dead-influenced beat on Obie's version was produced by Detroit's GenoXO and is starkly different from the original track's tinkly, flute-esque beat. In other words, Obie's version is much more Detroit.
Stay tuned for Obie's upcoming EP which should be dropping soon.
Quotable Lyrics
You know me, I ride on a hater
Suicide ever collide with a player
Sending drive-by's through your layer later
From point no to point rare,
Shady since a nigga 15, sprayer
Born and raised in D, what city fuckin' with we?
Rest in peace to the fuckin' mayor, P.
