Despite being stuck behind bars awaiting trial on six felony charges, XXXTENTACION's star is on the rise. In a phone call interview with DJ Akademiks Thursday, the rapper came to the defense of fellow South Florida rapper Kodak Black. The latter was arrested Tuesday for violating probation.
"I feel like they set him up," X said.
Both 19-year-old artists are locked up in Broward County Jail. X thinks Kodak shouldn't be in jail. He says he's worn an ankle monitor before and believes the "Tunnel Vision" rapper was framed.
"He had permission to go to that boxing match," he said. "As far as that strip club, I don't know how that went. But all of these things can be used as marketing records, which can be considered [...] work."
Kodak was arrested for violating the conditions of his house arrest. He made waves when he went to a boxing match in Ohio to support Adrien Broner. He also chilled at a strip club in Miami. His lawyers contest that the trips were "work-related." Yet, Kodak also failed to complete his court mandated anger management program.
"Free Kodak, free X," the "Look At Me" rapper said. Check out the interview below.
