T-Pain started showing off his new direction with his non-auto-tuned collaboration "Let Me Through" featuring Weezy F at the beginning of November. He left us even more impressed with his heartfelt and emotional title track "Stoicville," off his long-awaited album. While T-Pain's name has become synonymous with auto-tune, he's quickly changing that and showing us his vocals do not need even a hint of auto-tune. He's been outspoken in the past about how one should use the vocal altering device, and perhaps given the noticeable rise in auto-tune over the last year or two, he's on to bigger and better things.
The rapper-ternt-sanga debuted another new record, which continues the no-auto-tune-necessary trend. "Coming Home" verges on pop/rock, with it's catchy melody, hook and live instrumentation. It's definitely radio-friendly. The song was performed live on Morning Express with Robin Meade, so skip to the 30 second mark to hear it.
Quotable Lyrics
I've been waiting far too long
And this feeling is far too strong
It feels like I've waited all my life
I'm coming home tonight
