Keener Supremer Justin Timberlake has taken his love of democracy far too far. According to Complex, the singer could be facing 30 days in jail for taking a selfie in a Tennessee voting booth and posting the photo on his Instagram. Timberlake, who hosted a Hillary Clinton fundraiser back in August, has not commented on the controversy as of yet.
The law prohibiting voting booth selfies was only passed last year, and so far, no one has been prosecuted for the crime. On the books, however, the offence is worth 30 days in jail and a $50 fine.
Different states treat this offence differently. New York, Alaska, and Florida are states with a similar law to Tennessee, whereas states like Louisiana, Viriginia, and Hawaii don't even have the voting booth selfie on the books as a criminal act at all. Know your state, know your laws.
