The last time we heard from singer-songwriter Nikki Jean, she was dropping the track "Champagne Water" with her past collaborator Ab-Soul. Now, she's back with a new track, and this time, she's doing things on her own. Check out "Rivers," produced by Donnie Trumpet (of Chance The Rapper's Social Experiment band) & Double-0, below.
Atop an intriguing blend of piano keys and buzzing synths, Jean prays for an impending apocalypse while "rivers" run down her face. A bevy of horns smack you in the face as soon as the chorus hits, and then we're lulled back into the verse by drunken, quavering notes from another synth. A dope look for Nikki.
Quotable Lyrics
I climbed a stair to heaven and fell down
I cried you a river and drowned
