Elijah Blake has returned today, bringing with him a new track entitled "Black Whiskey." It's a fun, guitar-led cut.
Dropped as a one-off with no information on where it'll show up (or if it even will show up on a project), "Black Whiskey" is a relatively old-school flavored song, at least until it's fourth quarter breakdown. Before that, it's all retro 808 sounds, funky, choppy guitar licks, canned strings and rich, soulful vocals from Blake. With a central lyric of "black whiskey in my blood," this song has all the hallmarks of a night on the town track (or perhaps a morning after track).
