Billboard.biz reports that Tupac's virtual appearance at Coachella led to a spike in sales of his albums.
His Greatest Hits album re-entered the Billboard 200 Chart, and Snoop Dogg, his partner on stage, experienced a jump on the Social 50.
Tupac's 1998 Greatest Hits album returned to the Billboard 200 for the first time since 2000, it lands at no. 129, with 4,000 copies sold according to Nielsen SoundScan, a jump up 571% from the previous week. Pac's other albums also saw jumps, All Eyez On Me sold 2,000, up 95%, while Me Against the World sold 1,000 copies, up 53%.
However, the biggest seller was the song Hologram-Pac performed, "Hail Mary." The song received 13,000 downloads last week, for a 1,530% increase in sales. "California Love" also experienced a spike in sales, with 11,000 downloads (119% increase). The late rapper's third best seller was the other song he performed at Coachella, "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted," it sold 9,000, up 881%.
