Hoodie Allen seems to be taking his music in a new, poppier direction on his upcoming album People Keep Talking, as evidenced by lead single "Dumb For You," which dropped earlier this month. Now the second single from the project has arrived, and it follows suit. "Numbers" also finds Allen moving further away from hip-hop.
In the song's verses, Allen adopts a sing-songy delivery that could, by some stretch of the imagination, be considered rapping, but mostly only because the rest of the track features multitracked singing, the likes of which wouldn't be out of the question to hear on a Justin Bieber song. Add that up with the strikingly obvious lyrics that pertain to -- you guessed it -- numbers, and we're left with a very different Allen than we once knew.
