Over the past month, BJ The Chicago Kid has proven himself to be the R&B version of a chameleon, going old school on the track "Real Love Never Dies" and then thoroughly modern on a remix of the Sasha Go Hard-assisted "Gimme Mo." His latest, "Wednesday Weekend," definitely leans more toward the modern side of things, despite the presence of Zapp-style talkboxes.
Apart from that somewhat dated vocal effect (which is nonetheless dope here because it's been so underused in the past decade or so), "Wednesday Weekend" surges and quakes with the gravity of a trap track, though it's decidedly softer and more atmospheric than most music in that genre.
Quotable Lyrics:
Baby girl ain't no tellin'
What we can do when we're alone
And girl I don't know about you
But me, I'll be doin' the most
