Adidas has just confirmed that New York Knicks rising star Kristaps Porzingis is the newest member of Team Adidas. Porzingis repped for Nike during his rookie year but he became a sneaker free agent in the off-season, and The Swoosh failed to match Adidas' offer.
Per the Adidas press release:
"I'm happy to be here and it just felt right to be with adidas. There's a lot of excitement right now, and I feel like it's the right fit for me," said Kristaps Porzingis. "A city like New York is hungry for success in basketball, and I believe adidas will help take my game to the next level. I'm a unique player and adidas is a unique brand. I'm just excited to join the family."
Basketball fans and sneakerheads will recall that PorzinGod's go-to sneaker last year was the Nike Kobe 10 Elite, but now that he's with Adidas he'll be rocking the newly unveiled "Crazy Explosive" in a variety of colorways, including the Knicks-themed PEs shown in the gallery.
Additionally, he will play a collaborative and instrumental role in driving performance insights to create new footwear and apparel, while also being featured in upcoming brand campaigns, activations and global athlete tours.
Catch Porzingis and his Adidas Crazy Explosive in action tonight at 7:30 as the Knicks tip off the NBA season in Cleveland against the defending champs.
