The last we heard from YOG$ was his team up with rising Chicago star Alex Wiley on "Shine On". The rapper has now returned with an anthem celebrating his youth, reminding us that he hasn't quite reached legal drinking age with "Not Even 21".
The song is built off of one simple repeated melody, "Love Sosa"-style, but sonically it's more of a "Citgo", with a hypnotically breezy instrumental accompanying the rapper's vocals. YOG$ provides the beat himself, proving himself as a savvy producer, and one who knows his way around dynamics, waiting more than halfway through the jam to drop the bassline, which delays the satisfaction just long enough to pay off big.
Quotable Lyrics:
Sometimes I feel bad when I ain't there
My family miss me so they came there
I'm gettin' up because i earned that
'Don't trust these hoes' I had to learn that
