Arian Foster has announced his retirement from the NFL. It seems like just yesterday Foster was regarded as one of the premiere running backs in the game (Especially for the fantasy football players out there) but injuries have sidelined him over the last couple of seasons and he has decided to hang 'em up.
Foster announced his decision via Bleacher Report's Uninterrupted in which he said:
"There comes a time in every athlete's career when their ambition and their body are no longer on the same page. I've reached that point,"
"Faceless gladiators have been shuffled in and out of this arena for decades and I'm proud to have taken part in that legacy. My father always said, "You'll know when it's time to walk away.""
The four-time pro bowler broke into the league with the Houston Texans in 2009 but was most recently a member of the Miami Dolphins serving as a backup to Jay Ajayi, who has exploded in the past few weeks. People always talk about the limited shelf-life of NFL running backs and Arian Foster's career is certainly indicative of that; he went from posting double-digit touchdown seasons to not being able to get on the field in the blink of an eye.
The 30-year old running back retires with 6,257 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns to his name.
