Earlier this week, we got a track called "Lawd" from NJ rapper Tsu Surf. Today he returns with one called "Where Have You Been" that addresses his father's absence in his life. According to a press release, "Producers Trunkknockaz offer Surf an alternate version of the Jay Z and Beanie Sigel song [of the same name] to vent on."
Over the twinkling, keyboard-led production, Tsu Surf bemoans the similarities between himself and his absentee dad, calling himself "Lil You" in spite of himself. A soulful chorus bolsters this heartfelt, emotional track, adding a female voice in to accompany Tsu's singing.
Quotable Lyrics:
I'm older now, and I'm understandin' women
Shit, you was just prolly different 'cause mommy was busy bitchin'
But your distance took me right up off the court and put me in the kitchen
To the block, still daydreamin' 'bout the court visions
