As it was the center of the American auto industry for the majority of the 20th century, Detroit should know a thing or two about the negative effects of global warming. Today four residents of the D, Yancey Boys' Illa J and Frank Nitty and Slum Village's T3 and Young RJ, have teamed up for a track that addresses all of the environmental harm their city has caused, fittingly titled "Global Warming."
Probably released as a one-off, this track follows up Yancey Boys' 2013 album, Sunset Blvd., that was completely composed of beats by the late J Dilla. You can still stream that project here.
Quotable Lyrics:
Yeah I know its cold outside, but I'm runnin' hot with no recipes in the book
I'ma break it down, put it in the pot, and let the pastries cook
You can call Nitty a chef, by the way I'm slicin' that bread
And I'm ridin' rough and I'm nice enough to aim these lights up at your head
- Frank Nitty
