Makonnen's strange merger of hip hop and 80s new wave has a lot of people talking. His surprise blog hit, "Club Goin Up On A Tuesday" has been steadily gaining momentum, as has "I Don't Sell Molly No More", which was recently endorsed by Miley Cyrus of all people.
While his latest EP, I Love Makonnen paired him with some of Atlanta's most exciting young producers like Metro Boomin, Dun Deal, FKi, and 808 Mafia, his latest offering, "Down 4 So Long" is co-produced by rising beatmaker J. Price, eschewing the sheen that his previous tracks contained.
The result is a more reserved track, likely stripped closer to Makonnen's original Roland keyboard blueprint. Look out for more from the singer soon.
