Despite releasing two incredible singles, it seemed like Jeremih and Shlohmo's collaborative project may never come to fruition. Shlohmo explained the indefinite delay was caused by "major label bullshit", which any rap fan knows can put a complete halt on a joint project (see: T-Wayne).
The dwindling hope for new material made yesterday's surprise drop all the more exciting, as Jeremih let go of the full project for free in celebration of his birthday. While we were already familiar with a few of the tracks, 3 brand new offerings were also included, and "Let It Go" is definitely a highlight.
The track mixes Shlohmo's dark atmospherics with some piercing snaps reminiscent of the current DJ Mustard-helmed west coast sound, and some melancholy wailing from Jeremih.
Quotable Lyrics:
Oh yeah I know you like that
I love the way you hold me down
You know that I'll be right back
Right back, as long as you can make that sound
