New Orleans MC Dee-1 and Ohio spitter Stalley may seem like an odd couple on paper, but when their collaborations sound as fun and triumphant as the just-released "O.D. On Life," we really can't front.
Enriched with that old school, Cash Money-style bounce, this track finds both rappers in high spirits, with gleeful strings backing up their come-up tales. Dee-1 gets the first and final verses, while Stalley comes through with a mid-game barnstormer that locates him and Dee as "new age pirates" and "the uptown flyest."
Having just met each other recently on Lupe Fiasco's "Tetuso & Youth Preview" tour, Dee-1 and Stalley hit their first collabo out of the park. Let's hope the future has more of them in store.
Quotable Lyrics:
Oh boy, you don't know boy
Just a po' boy from the land of Po Boys
Everybody just chillin', ain't nobody totin' tools
Shawty said he liked my kicks, so I gave him my shoes
Yeah I made his lil' day, now he walkin' home grinnin'
And me, I'm barefoot, but I ain't trippin', I enjoy it
Got me feelin' like French Montana -- Whoa Oh
I ain't worried 'bout nothin' -- no no, no no
