Well here's an unorthodox move from Puff Daddy. The hip-hop mogul is teaming with Israeli DJ Guy Gerber for a collaborative project entitled 11:11. Today they've shared "My Heart," the first track we've heard from the album, and it's unusual for Diddy, to say the least.
Featuring less than a minute of rapped vocals from Puff, the track focuses instead on a gradual, very tempered electronic buildup that in no way resembles any of the recent collaborations between rappers and EDM artists. There are no bass drops, catchy choruses or hashtag-ready hooks, just, as the pair say themselves, "darker, richer, deeper soundscapes."
If "My Heart" tells us anything, it's that 11:11 will be like nothing else we've heard from Puff Daddy. The 11 track project is set to drop for free later this summer.
Quotable Lyrics:
Leather poncho, plus the belts four yards
I'm so sharp, I could cut myself
Invite the morning, we could get it on
If not, I'm oh so cold like Omarion
