Nikko Lafre is currently gearing up for the release of his project MPLS: West End Stories, and today he's given us the opportunity to premiere a new track from it. "Geechi's Story: Explosions" was produced by K. Beatz and was inspired by Lafre's uncle.
Nicknamed "Geechi," Lafre's uncle was previously incarcerated for multiple drug distribution counts, and an attempted murder. He's now been deported out of the country on these crimes and bad behavior in prison.
The song that Lafre dedicates to him is excellent, featuring a dope pitched-down chorus and verses that pay homage to Geechi. K. Beatz's production is on-point, giving the track an almost underwater feel with lots of reverb and great use of negative space.
Stay tuned for a free download on SoundCloud, which Lafre says is coming in a matter of hours.
Quotable Lyrics:
I been away for at least two weeks
Like I'm trying to buy a Benz with a brand new lease
Goddamn it I started in the slums now I'm livin' on the beach
Bought a choppa with a drum 'cause I still be in them streets
