Yesterday it became official, the biopic about the pioneers of gangster rap, N.W.A, is hitting a theatre near you on August 14, 2015. Along with the release date of the anticipated film, Dr. Dre, one of the group's founding members, released a promotional photos of both the OGs and the actors set to play them.
This has got us sufficiently excited for the film, so we've decided to take it back to Straight Outta Compton, the group's seminal debut (which will also be the film's title). "Express Yourself" isn't the group's most gangster record, it actually has a feel good vibe as Ice Cube, MC Ren, Dr. Dre and more encourage you to be yourself-- and Dre even claims that weed gives you brain damage.
Quotable Lyrics
Forget about the ghetto and rap for the pop charts
Some musicians curse at home
But scared to use profanity when up on the microphone
Yeah, they want reality but you won't hear none
They rather exaggerate a little fiction
