On the surface, legendary producer Hi-Tek, 106 & Park host Bow Wow, Bone thugs' Krayzie Bone and funk great Bootsy Collins have very little in common. But the fact is, they all hail from Ohio, which seems to be the reason they've teamed up for "Ohio Players," a track that pays tribute to the frontman of the '70s band of the same name.
Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner, who passed away in 2013, was the writer and performer of many hit song for The Ohio Players, including "Fire," which Hi-Tek samples here. Crafting a half-time bounce that Bow Wow and Krayzie Bone ride with ease, Hi-Tek proves that even the most motley of crews can still succeed if they've got one of his beats.
Quotable Lyrics:
Seen the West, played the East
Love em both, but we came to eat
Did records with Dre, rhyme with Common
Dare these niggas say I ain't the elite
