This Buckwild remix of Big L's "Casualties Of A Dice Game," from his final posthumous album The Big Picture, is the last reveal from D.I.T.C. The Remix Project, a new remix LP from the Diggin' In The Crates crew, which is scheduled to drop tomorrow afternoon.
For those unfamiliar, D.I.T.C. is a New York City collective of emcees, DJs and producers who came together in the early nineties to create some of the golden era's most memorable underground classics. Big Pun, Brand Nubian, KRS-One, Organized Konfusion, Tha Alkaholiks and Fat Joe have all been involved, as well as most of the veteran producers mentioned below. After a decade-long hiatus, D.I.T.C. came back out the woodwork in 2012.
Here, Buckwild puts a triumphant spin on "Casualties Of A Dice Game," amplifying Big L's detailed storytelling with flourishes of horns, harp and bass. Listen to the original below and let us know how they compare.
D.I.T.C. The Remix Project will include remixes from the likes of Showbiz, Lord Finesse, Diamond D., DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, The Alchemist, Marco Polo, Apollo Brown and more, and a special double vinyl will be released via Slice Of Spice Records as well. Quotable Lyrics
Now I'm alone, headin' home to rest my dome
Spotted some niggas trailing, so I picked up the phone
Called Bones, I said: "Yo son, I'm on the run
Need your help before I get done
Meet me downstairs, bring your big gun"
I don't believe this - this nigga said he can't make it
'Cause some bitch is in his house butt-naked
And then he hung up ...
And this supposed to be my man
And he don't give a fuck
That duck sold me out just to get a nut, what?!
