Matt Bonner's 12-year NBA career is over. Bonner announced his retirement from the sport today but he'll reportedly remain close to the game of basketball as a studio analyst on Spurs TV.
Bonner has spent the last 10 years with the Spurs organization, although he only appeared in 30 games for Gregg Popovich's squad last season. The 36-year old vet was determined to stick it out for one more year but ultimately decided to hang 'em up.
In a short post published on The Player's Tribune, Bonner said:
"Today, I’m announcing my retirement from the NBA. Thank you to everyone who supported this humble redheaded role player through the years. I loved every team I played for and every city I lived in."
"Staying true to myself, I made this mildly humorous video. Unless a professional “spot shooting” league miraculously crops up, I hope you will continue the support for whatever comes for me after basketball."
But that's not all. Bonner wasn't just going to announce his retirement with a simple essay.
He also unleashed this glorious retirement video.
