Any fans of Elton John in the audience?
Either way, a reissue of his seventh studio album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is set to drop on its 40th anniversary, that being Tuesday, March 25. The Deluxe Edition and box set will include new versions of tracks from the album, undertaken by such artists as John Grant, The Band Perry, Fall Out Boy, Hunter Hayes, the Zac Brown Band, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, Imelda May and Miguel & Wale, evidence of which we have here.
Listen to the original version of "Bennie And The Jets" below and let us know how they compare.
You can pre-order the reissue via iTunes, if you wish. It'll be made available on CD, vinyl and limited-edition yellow vinyl as well. The box set will include a DVD of Bryan Forbes' 1973 film Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye to Norma Jean and Other Things, an illustrated hardcover book complete with RARE photos, recordings of Live at Hammersmith 1973 on CD and other collectibles.
Quotable Lyrics
Hey kids, plug into the faithless
Maybe they're blinded
But Bennie makes them ageless
We shall survive, let us take ourselves along
Where we fight our parents out in the streets
To find who's right and who's wrong
