Asher Roth has definitely progressed far from his college kid rap days with his break-out "I Love College." We've seen him get jazzy on Pabst & Jazz (still one of his best projects to date), and for his new album Retrohash he appears to go in yet another direction, if we are to judge it based off this new release "Tangerine Girl."
The record is smooth and mainly instrumental-driven, while Asher keeps his rapping to a minimum. He finally pops up around the 2:30 mark with a nice verse.
Retrohash is entirely produced by the Blended Babies, so we're sure to hear some more great instrumentals on the LP when it drops April 22nd.
Sidenote: Roth seems to have a thing for colors in the orange family, you'll recall he almost called his album Is This Too Orange?
Are you digging "Tangerine Girl"?
Quotable Lyrics
Bad to the, bad to the, bad to the bone
With real clothes, I shoulda known
Heels on her toes to be matching her coat
And jewels on the low just to add to the show
Mmm, fine, clementine
What I gotta do to make you mine?
Girl you set my heart on fire, open fire
