Shaqisdope's new track "Opportunity" is bookended by Jay Z interview footage. The recording finds Jigga explaining his philosophy that an artist should always embody who they are on record, rather than chase trends like autotune.
In between, Shaq makes it clear that he has a similar mentality towards his music, delivering a personal and introspective verse. Taking another note from Jay, the rapper goes hook-less, delivering a style that is uniquely his own.
Pitt Tha Kidd provides a piano-laden beat which compliments the nostalgic and determined vibe of Shaq's lyrics.
His upcoming project, Early Beginnings: The Shaquille Baptiste Story will host "Opportunity" as well as plenty of new music from the rising Toronto rapper.
Quotable lyrics:
Never seen the day my father cried
Telling you With honest eyes
Never felt traumatized, but I feel pain
To the point some days, I don't know how I stayed sane
I find it strange that they stopped calling my real name
Like Shaqisdope isn't me, just someone I became
