Wale's "Clappers" was one of the breakout hits from his 2013 album, The Gifted, mainly due to its strip club-friendly sound. While Juicy J and Nicki Minaj held it down on the original mix, Wale has a whole new list of features on the new version, which also gets a complete instrumental re-work frrom Hit-Boy.
Rick Ross and new MMG signee Fat Trel show up, because of course, but the most interesting addition to the lineup is Atlanta newcomer Young Thug. After hopping on Thug's "Stoner" its clear that Wale has an affinity for the young experimentalist, whose contribution is a nice foil to the otherwise by-the-book rapping on the track-- though it's clear at this point that Thugger's ideas are best when not confined to 16 bar verses (and are presented at full volume).
Quotable lyrics:
"Real niggas gon' clap/ I'm still holdin on my strap/ Real hoes act right, and all these fake hoes get left"
