After days of protesting, the city of Chartlotte declares an indefinite curfew to keep people off the streets.

With a state of emergency already declared in Charlotte, North Carolina, it's no real surprise that a curfew would be imposed by city officials soon after. Following the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott by a police officer (and many many other similar incidents), the streets of Charlotte erupted into protests, some violent and some resulting in significant property damage. Now the city has declared it law that the streets must be empty (with several exceptions) between the hours of midnight and 6AM. You can read that official declaration here.

Although there is video footage of the shooting that caused Keith Lamont Scott's death, that content is currently in the hands of the Charlotte officials, and thus far, they have announced no plans to release it.

Will the curfew end the protesting? How important are those late night hours for meaningful and effective resistance?
