Derrick Rose was recently cleared of all charges in his highly publicized rape trial. After the verdict was announced, the Knicks point guard posed for pictures with members of the jury and got some well wishes from the judge, under one condition.
According to the New York Post, shortly after announcing that Derrick Rose was not liable on all three claims, judge Michael J. Fitzgerald joked:
“Best wishes,” Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald told Rose. “Except when the Knicks play the Lakers.”
Given the serious nature of the accusations made against Rose during this trial, it's not exactly a good look for the judge to be joking with him the second he leaves the courtroom, or for the jurors to be taking photos with him, but I regress.
D-Rose reportedly didn't show much emotion throughout the trial, including today when he and his two friends were cleared of the charges. He issued the following statement after the verdict was announced.
“It was important to prove I did not do what I was accused of, even if it meant publicly sharing very private details about my personal life,” he said. “I am thankful that the jury understood and agreed with me. This experience and my sensitivity to it was deep. I am ready to put this behind me and focus on my family and career.”
