Donald Glover is currently prepping the release of his FX show “Atlanta,” which debuts next month. However, his rap alter ego Childish Gambino also has a project in the pipeline, albeit one that’s far more mysterious. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Donald (Childish?) removed some of the mystery behind his next project Pharos.
After briefly discussing his recent hike in the mountains of California, the two turned to Pharos, which Glover confirmed was the title of his next album. He then further explained the rationale and a few details behind the three day camping excursion in Joshua Tree National Park.
“I just wanted to do something different. I have all these songs, and I was like, ‘I want people to feel like it felt to be in them.’ I was like, ‘oh, I should just invite everybody camping',” the multi-talented rapper recalled. He went to explain that not only will he be performing, he says, “we’ll be building this big place to perform it, and we’ll build e all this city stuff. It’s like a whole town.”
Ever the conceptual one, it seems like this will be a fully immersive experience. If it sounds a bit like Burning Man… you aren’t wrong. Either way, we’re excited to hear new music from Childish Gambino. Find out more by downloading the app here. Will you be attending?
