Budden wasn't sure how to take some messages Drake sent him about his recent diss tracks.

The Drake and Joe Budden beef has certainly lasted longer than anyone expected it to, and it's only getting weirder as it progresses. The most recent update comes from Joe's appearance on Cari Champion's ESPN podcast, Be Honest, in which Budden paraphrased a conversation he had with Drake via Instagram DM quite recently.

While he said he wouldn't be releasing screenshots of Drake's messages just yet, he was willing to divulge at least the first part of the exchange, which he says Drake initiated.

"He started off with, 'I would like to formally invite you to one of my four Madison Square Garden shows, August 4th. You and however many people you’d like to bring,'" he recalled. "Then after that, it said, 'and I bet you can’t release 25 diss records between now and then.'"

At this point, Joe was a bit confused by the tone of the messages. "So then it was the laughing emoji. I use that emoji with my friends, so I don't know if he's laughing or joking at this point," he said. "And then he followed that with, ‘If you can, I will give you $10,000 LOL.’ And then it said 'Joey' with a bunch of exclamation points. I didn’t know how to take that."

Budden doesn't seem to be jumping at Drake's offer, but he did say that he sent a message back joking that he could get to at least 20 records by Drizzy's deadline. However, he was still unsure about what the OVO rapper was putting forth with the invite. "That sounds like someone who's a gentleman. That sounds like someone who isn't really bothered by any of this, but it also sounds like someone who's attempting to insult someone," he said. Budden then revealed that in the DMs that followed, it became more clear that Drake was, in fact, being patronizing, though he did not go into further detail about what was said.
