Top Dawg Entertainment built its reputation in the industry by the strength of the rappers on their roster. With Kendrick, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul being the first artist the label pushed, since then they have branched out. Their most recent signee to the roster is Chicago-born singer, Lance Skiiwalker. While he does a lot of background work, he has still been putting out some quality music. Last May, he was announced as an official member to the California record label, he shortly dropped his album Introverted Intuition in October of 2016.
While Top Dawg Entertainment used that as a stepping stone for his career, he continues to push out new music. Today he drops his video for "Where To With You." The song itself has two parts to it which dissect a euphoric feeling before dropping into a more darker lane. It's a psychedelic cartoon that takes you on a visual journey through the song. The video was directed by Shawn Johnson who took the video to a new height that's bound to attract more people to Lance Skiiwalker.
His talents in the past have been lent to ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar. His music, from the production to the vocals, all share a certain uniqueness so listening to his solo music, you could definitely hear the influence that he brought to records like "His and Her Fiend" off of Oxymoron was produced by Lance under the name "Rocket." And listening back, you could definitely here his distinct sound. He also had a guest appearance on Kendrick's untitled. unmastered. on the song "Untitled 04." He was featured on ScHoolboy's Blank Face LP on the song "Kno Ya Wrong."
So while TDE may have only officially signed him back in 2016, he's definitely been putting in a lot of background work with some of our favorite artists on the roster.
