Jamila Woods and Chance The Rapper team with aspiring Chicago filmmakers for "LSD."

In case you don't know the name, Jamila Woods is a Chicago-based singer and poet, who first began to achieve critical acclaim through her debut album HEAVN. The 2016 album basically killed it on the blog circuit, with many publications including it on year-end highlight lists and praising Jamila's exciting new voice. Now, the album has undergone an "official" release through Jagjaguwar and Chi-town staple Closed Sessions, and in celebration of that comes a new video featuring none other than Chance The Rapper.

Together, the pair of artists have continued to build upon Chance's charitable groundwork, reaching out to an entire squad of aspiring film directors from Chicago public schools to bring HEAVN cut "LSD" to life. Luckily, the assembled team comes through with a subdued, yet effective interpretation of the celebratory cut, cleverly using high lighting and distant shots with experienced finesse.

As the song tackles themes of identity of self and one's hometown, so too does the video. By setting the clip in the familiar location of a neighborhood backyard house party, "LSD" is immediately imbued with a comfortable sense of familiarity, which works well in tandem with the track's central themes. The concept was quarterbacked by Prosser Career Academy senior Ashley Huicochea, whose treatment stood above the rest and earned her a winning spot in the contest. The directorial duties fell upon Vincent Martell & Sam Bailey of VAM Studio, while six runner-ups were granted access to the set.

In the spirit of supporting aspiring artists, check out some of the contest winners involved in bringing "LSD" to life.
