Lil West is a rapper we first stumbled across thanks to the almighty powers that be, Soundcloud. Since featuring him on the site with his Indigo mixtape, he's continued to bubble on Soundcloud, perfecting, but perhaps more importantly, experimenting, with sound. It's been slightly over a year since his last mixtape offering, Indigo 2, however he's kept fans fed with singles and features littered across the past year, including a stand-out collaboration with Judge on "Addicted." As West gears up for his next project, LW17, the rapper's given us the greenlight to premiere his first music video off the album, "R&R," with production from frequent collaborator DMac. Who doesn't need a little R&R? Medicated or otherwise.
The music video was shot using VHS tapes on a camcorder, resulting in a lofi, gritty set of visuals that match the record's vibe. Filmed during a recent trip to NYC, it finds West turning up at a show and turning down in his hotel bedroom.
We're definitely excited to see where West takes his sound with the forthcoming release, stay tuned for it to impact this summer.
