The term "Black Wall Street" was first used to refer to the thriving black community in Tulsa that was burned to the ground in the early 20th century. These days, it is most commonly used by The Game in reference to Compton.
Garren is another artist who draws from and contributes to Compton's cultural wealth. His new video "LA $hit," featuring fellow South Central resident G Perico, is an urgent tribute to the place he calls home. He is 22 years old, but he's still coming to terms with Compton's socioeconomic ills. "I just hit the corner store from some chips / I'm in the middle of the bloods & the crips"
Watch "LA $hit" and watch out out for Garren's upcoming album Normal.
