Migos left the ATL last week to take a trip up north, and while they were chilling in New York we were able to catch up with them for a few moments in their NYC hotel room.
Migos are among the few Atlanta newcomers changing the face and the sound of trap music. Thus it was only right they connected with fellow Atlanta young'ns Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug on the aptly-titled "New Atlanta," which was a re-make of Ludacris and Jermaine Durpi's "Welcome To Atlanta." They received Jermaine Dupri's blessing when the veteran was also featured on "New Atlanta." We asked the trio how the big record came together.
"We linked up with JD...I seen JD at the studio I said shit, fuck it, I'ma just ask him about this song I got in my head, that we got in our head, that we constructed up through our boy Murda, told our boy Murda who made the beat to sample the beat [of "Welcome To Atlanta"], and I told JD I just want him on it...'cause it's only right to pay your respects. And he said yeah he'll do it, that's it."
Migos have also been heavily featured on Gucci Mane records, including the recent Brick Factory Vol. 1 mixtape. However it remains unclear what their actual connection to GuWop is-- Migos tell us there are no contracts involved in their relationship with Gucci, it's all love.
They also talk about their upcoming album, and promise an EP as well as some EDM music too. Are you down to hear Migos on EDM beats?
