Riffing on Monica's "Don't Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days)," Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave spits game science on "Cooking." Straight off the recently released Dope Boy Troy street album, the Crown Heights product dropped the track's music video.
Set in a cramped New York kitchen, Troy raps about all the money he's made cooking and slinging cocaine. Apparently, the building has just been raided by the ATF in real life but it had nothing to do with Troy's video. The production borrows the drums from Raekwon's "Incarcerated Scarfaces."
The visuals add to the 1990s throwback feel you get when you listen to this track. All that's missing are the cockroaches on the counter.
