Whether or not you're familiar with Starrah's singing voice, you're familiar with her writing voice. While she likes to keep a low profile, Starrah has lent her pen to some of the biggest rap and R&B hits of the last year. She's contributed to songs including Young Thug and Travis Scott's "Pick Up The Phone," Drake's "Fake Love," Rihanna's "Needed Me," Dreezy and Jeremih's "Body," and most recently, Nicki Minaj's "No Frauds" and "Regret In Your Tears."
On top of the impressive writing credits, Starrah has also released a couple of songs of her own, most notably "Rush," a perfectly sugary ballad that merges melodic raps with childlike synth sounds. Releasing the video today, Starrah continues to disguise her image, appearing not only as a cartoonish version of herself in the computer-animated clip, but also donning animal mask which has become something of a signature for the songwriter.
Cruising in a toy car through a candy-coated dream world, the visual captures the euphoria of the single which Starrah describes as "An ode to youth."
At this rate, it seems likely that we'll be hearing a lot more from Starrah in the near future. Here's hoping that accounts for more solo material as well as songwriting.
