as embarked on his Summer Sixteen tour this week, meaning he has assumed his pettiest form. On Wednesday, Drizzy changed the lyrics to “Summer Sixteen” while onstage to call out other rap artists trying to recreate “Controlla,” namely Tyga and Tory Lanez, and on Thursday (July 21), he made what amounts to the most direct reference to Joe Budden in their thus far one-sided beef.

While in Dallas, Drake praised the crowd while in turn throwing shots Budden’s way. “We got the good energy going on. I should’ve brought Joe Budden up here to let him do ‘Pump It Up’ one time. Pump, pump, pump it up. Fuck with me,” he said.

Budden responded in the dead of night, writing on Twitter, “He want attention lol.”

What’s most notable about Drake’s onstage comments is the way they match up with his “No Shopping” verse. While French Montana said he and Drake weren’t thinking of Budden when recording, Drizzy’s verse starts with “Pump, pump, pump it up” and includes the line “I’m not a one hit wonder, they know all my stuff, you let me turn into the nigga that you almost was.” While Budden has released numerous diss tracks stacked with bars that call out Drake’s credibility, the 6 God has kept his message a little simpler, focusing on Budden’s sputtering mainstream career.

Drake’s onstage comments are included up above, while Budden’s tweet can be seen just below. Drizzy will keep the show rolling with a stop in Kansas City Saturday.
