Westside Gunn usually likes to keep things in-house at Griselda Records, collaborating with his right-hand man Conway. Together, they've started a movement in the oft-forgotten town of Buffalo, and with the help of the sample God known as Daringer, they've been putting out some of the dopest music in the country. On his debut album, February's FLYGOD, West ventured outside of his label for a handful of collabs, mostly from top guys in the NYC underground -- an underrated scene in itself. He and Daringer linked with Queens rapper Mayhem Lauren on "Over Gold. For those missing NY's golden age sound, this is as fresh as it's gonna get. The "Over Gold" video is now here, and like the song, it's at once lavish and vicious. Appearances by Conway and Statik Selektah (in a Jason mask).
West recently released another project, Hitler Wears Hermes 4, and it's similarly excellent street rap, the likes of which you won't hear anywhere outside of Buffalo. Cop it here.
