After a few years of hard grinding, Mir Fontane started to buzz at the end of last year with "Wanni Wag," and this summer, he displayed all that he can do as an artist on his Who's Watching the Kids mixtape. He has embraced his role as the pride of Camden and is ready to bring the young scene in South Jersey into the national spotlight. One can get a taste of his hustle in the new video to "Damon Wayans," one of the standouts on Who's Watching the Kids. "I want mo' money like I'm Damon Wayans," sings Mir on the catchy hook. The song features Philly hopeful Young Savage, an affiliate of Charlie Heat's House of 99 label. The Philly-South Jersey connection has been crucial to the advancement of the indie scenes in both regions.
Mir and his team are decked out in suits and ties in the new video, which finds a business meeting turning into a celebratory, rainmaking affair. Mir mixes sharp lyricism with a cool, natural sense of melody and is thus able to give this trap-leaning track a gritty East Coast feel. "Damon Wayans" is produced by Menace and Kenif Muse.
