Fresh off the release of his new single “Shine,” Compton rapper Buddy decides to waste no time in sharing the single’s official video.
Directed by Andy Hines, the video gives viewers a closer look into Buddy’s everyday life in Compton, California. From waking up in his bed grateful for another day to watching homies getting arrested on his block, Buddy remains a positive & “shining” outlook on life even though his reality surrounding him is daunting & rough.
"'Shine' is a ghetto hymn acknowledging inevitable death while showing gratitude for abundant life," Buddy told The Fader. "It's written from the perspective of an optimistic young black male growing up in Compton as he thrives for enlightenment through all adversity."
